It’s time for this week’s Song Title Challenge.
Write a short piece of fiction, around 300 words, using the song title as your story title but don’t listen to the song. You can pick your own genre or use the one suggested to me. Remember to link back to this post so I can find yours.
If you would like to suggest a song title for a future post, you can do so from the challenge page. You can also leave a suggestion on the Facebook page.
This week’s song is I’m Too Sexy by Right Said Fred and the genre is Thriller/Horror. It was suggested by bumblepuppies in response to this post.
Warning: If guys without shirts make you uncomfortable, DON’T watch the video 😉
I’m Too Sexy
Lauren barely felt the branches that slapped against her face as she rushed through the trees. Her only thought was to get as far as she could from the campsite. She still couldn’t believe it. Stuff like this only happened in movies. The picture of their bodies lying on the ground came unbidden to her mind.
Her foot snagged on something and she went sprawling in the pine needles and mud. She tried to pick herself up, but her foot gave way under her, her ankle throbbing. The tears she had been holding back since she had discovered the grisly scene earlier overwhelmed her. How could this have happened? It was supposed to be a fun weekend away before finals and now…
Lauren pulled herself up against a tree and tested her ankle. A bit better, but she should probably not run. She had set off at random from the campsite, but now she oriented herself and started moving downhill. A full moon illuminated the forest through the branches, lighting her way.
She had not gone far when a branch snapped somewhere behind her. A few moments later another snapped, closer this time. She felt her heart beat in her throat. Someone was following her, and he didn’t mind that she knew.
She tried moving faster, but her ankle slowed her down. Suddenly the ground gave way beneath her foot and she found herself tumbling forward. She rolled down the slope until she slammed into a tree trunk.
I’m going to die here, she thought as she struggled to get her breath back. But I’m too sexy to die. The combination of shock and fatigue and the sheer absurdity of that thought set her off in hysterical giggles.
“Mind sharing the joke with me?” said a voice, inches away from her face.

not really turned into a thriller – but was a lot of fun 🙂

Not a thriller, no, but you do manage to build up a bit of tension. Action, maybe?

Oh my god, this song is deadly for a horror/ thriller-text 🙂 already having bold guys in trenchcoats, suddenly starting to strip, in my head ….if they disappear (doubt so…), I’ll try to come up with a text …

I still maintain you’re trying to outwit me. I’m sure I have an email somewhere in which you say something to that effect 😉

I seem to remember you challenging me to do that. And then I succeeded…

And when exactly did you succeed *raises eyebrow*. To date I’ve written every title and genre you’ve thrown at me with only minor cheating…

If I remember correctly, you had to take a raincheck on Crosseyed and Painless.

Not only did I write it…you commented on it!
No, sir. Thus far the score is bumblepuppies – zero; Kokkieh – lots 😀

Nah… because, by your own admission, you cheated!
(Meanwhile, another title is coming. I almost gave you “The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah” but I was feeling nice.)
