In case you missed it, this morning I woke up with a river in my driveway. This is the third time since we’ve moved into our apartment that this has happened, but the first time I’m blogging about it.
They say a picture paints a thousand words, so here they come…
This is nature’s way of telling you to invest in a canoe.

Since I’ve moved in here I’ve wanted one. Alas, they are a bit expensive and the river is not well-suited to water sports.

What’s a little sewage odor now and then?

Sewage is a recent problem. The river is incredibly treacherous, especially where it flows through town. The river’s name means the false river. The town is actually named after a horse who drowned in it. The horse belonged to an important historical figure. He didn’t drown.

Whoa. Really something. Your pictures show the conditions quite well. How did you mange to cut a fence?

It’s regular chain link fencing, so one of my neighbours cut it with a pair of wire cutters. The Fire Department cut the chain on the gate on the other side of the park for us. This is the second time we’ve had to evacuate that way due to the river rising while we’re sleeping (making us very unpopular with the owners of the animal park, but they won’t answer their phones…). The first time it happened during the day, so we were able to get out in time.
