Up, up and away!

As this post appears on my site I am rising up into the air to start a new adventure.

Thirty hours from now I will land in the USA to meet some of the people with whom I’ve been working these past few months.

Exciting? You bet it is.

I’ve been abroad a couple of times, and I’ve visited a few neighbouring African countries, but this will be my first trans-Atlantic trip.

I can’t say I’m all that excited about the flying itself – 30 hours with a stranger sitting in my lap is not my idea of a fun time – but I’m excited about meeting my team. We communicate with each other daily via text, and once a week we have a video chat, but that’s not the same as spending time with someone in person. And now I get to see them all for a whole week!

I’ll post about my experiences soon. But in the meantime…

  1. Where will you be??? I missed seeing you while in SA – sorry, just couldn’t add anything to my to do list. If you’re going to be in the Pacific Northwest (Washington / Oregon / Idaho) I’d love to connect with you!

    1. I’m in North Carolina, so a bit far, I think. And I guessed you might have been busy while here. I imagine there is quite a lot one has to fit into the infrequent and relatively short visits “home”. But the Pacific North West is high on my list of want-to-visit destinations, so maybe a next time.

Just need to wait for Squishy to either be big enough to make the trip, or to stay with her grandparents while we go a-traveling.

    1. I’ll be in Durham, NC, which is apparently a good place for food.

Thus far I’ve sampled American Coke (tastes just like South African Coke, which I found strangely disappointing) and a chocolate bar while waiting at JFK for my final flight. I’ve been travelling for about 27 hours now, and need the sugar if I’m to make it to bedtime tonight.
