Song Title Challenge #44: Flushed From the Bathroom of Your Heart – Johnny Cash

It’s time for this week’s Song Title Challenge.

Write a short piece of fiction, around 300 words, using the song title as your story title but don’t listen to the song.  You can pick your own genre or use the one suggested to me.  Remember to link back to this post so I can find yours.

If you would like to suggest a song title for a future post, you can do so from the challenge page.  You can also leave a suggestion on the Facebook page.

This week’s song is Flushed From the Bathroom of Your Heart by Johnny Cash, an oldie this time from the inestimable bumblepuppies.  The genre is Horror/Thriller.

Advisory:  Today’s story is a bit disturbing in terms of content and contains some foul language.  Sensitive and younger readers might want to skip this one.

The song is great, though, which is why I’m putting it before the break.  Enjoy.

Thanks to bumblepuppies for this week’s very tame suggestion (compared to past titles) of Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day (not that I’m complaining – I think Green Day makes some pretty decent music and am very thankful to have a band that I’ve heard of before for a change).  The genre is Fantasy/Sci-Fi.

The wife seems to have taken a page from bumblepuppies’s book by looking up the strangest song title she could find online.  Her suggestion?  There is a good reason these tables are numbered Honey. You just haven’t thought of it yet. by Panic! At the Disco (frankly, I think the band’s name would make a much more interesting story).  The genre is Crime/Mystery.

This week’s song is Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict by Pink Floyd and the genre is Crime/Mystery.  It was suggested by bumblepuppies (whose comments regarding my wife being pregnant should NEVER be taken seriously 😉  )

I did this one a bit differently, seeing as I’m already familiar with the song:  A friend of mine wrote a piece on this song on the blog where this challenge got it’s humble beginnings.  Please go give hers a read as well when you’re done here.
