KokkieH Reviews The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King

Third time’s the charm, it seems, at least as far as Stephen King is concerned.  The first book of his I read was The Talisman, back in college.  It didn’t really do it for me and I mainly finished it because, as previously mentioned, I’m a bit obsessive-compulsive when it gets to books.  Earlier this year I read Firestarter.  It was okay, but way too easy to put down.  I was ready to give up on Mr King, when I came across the brand new reprint of his 1988 (when I was in the first grade) novel, The Eyes of the Dragon.

And that’s two…

They say bad things come in threes.  Now, I’m not superstitious, but this week has an ominous feel to it.

First, if you missed my rant on Sunday, I didn’t get that job I was hoping for.  That in itself would have been bad enough.  What made it worse is that they never let me know that I didn’t get it but I only found out when they posted a photo of the guy who did get it on Facebook.  (If you try to read that particular post now you’ll find that it’s set to private – I needed to vent but I’d rather not let the anger and bitterness permanently affect my home page.)

On walking

On walking

The simplest things in life are free, goes the saying.  I don’t whether this is also a saying, but the greatest joy and the greatest beauty can also be found in the simplest things.

Good food, good music, a glass of wine, stimulating conversation.  Silence.  A sunset, a sunrise, a thunderstorm, a mountain, a forest, the desolation of a desert, a full moon, a starry sky.  Walking.
