He woke slowly, letting the pain going on inside his skull take its own sweet time to register. The aromas of cigarette smoke and scotch hung in the air, while the smell of sweat clung to the sheets of the empty bed.  I can still smell the witch, Jerry thought grimly as the perfumes of last night swirled around him; it was the scent of the woman whose enchantments he could never seem to break free of. The late afternoon sunlight filtered through the blinds, as he sat up on the corner of the bed and held his head in his hands.  He groaned and began to rub his temples. It was like this every time.

Nights with her always started out full of excitement and promises and concluded with him falling into slumber in her embrace. When the sun came up, she would always be…

Song Title Challenge #33: Smell the Witch – Mortiis

It’s time for this week’s Song Title Challenge.

Write a short piece of fiction, around 300 words, using the song title as your story title but don’t listen to the song.  You can pick your own genre or use the one suggested to me.  Remember to link back to this post so I can find yours.

If you would like to suggest a song title for a future post, you can do so from the challenge page.  You can also leave a suggestion on the Facebook page.

This week’s song is Smell the Witch by Mortiis and the genre is Romance.  Thanks to (you guessed it) bumblepuppies for the suggestion.  (Does no one else read these things?  If it wasn’t for him and his unusual musical tastes this challenge would have nose-dived months ago 😀  )

I’m adding an advisory warning for light erotica.  If you’re under 16 I’d prefer if you don’t read this, though most twelve-year-olds would probably consider it a bit tame.  At least no my conscience is clear…

Song Title Challenge #30: What Can You Get A Wookie For Christmas (When He Already Owns A Comb)

It’s time for this week’s third and final Song Title Challenge.

After my call last week for some Christmassy songs I got three suggestions.  I decided that today, just because it’s almost Christmas, I’m going to treat you with all three.  That’s right, three stories based on Christmas-related songs in one day.  You’re welcome.

Write a short piece of fiction, around 300 words, using the song title as your story title but don’t listen to the song.  You can pick your own genre or use the one suggested to me.  Remember to link back to this post so I can find yours.

Today’s final song is What Can You Get A Wookie For Christmas (When He Already Owns A Comb) from the album Christmas in the Stars produced by Meco Monardo and RSO records.  It was suggested by the wife who didn’t give a genre, but there really was only one choice.  Hat tip to mr George Lucas for inventing these wonderful characters.

The song’s at the end.  You’ve got to listen to this one! 😀
